Day 3 - Totland Bay - Alum Bay

Amazing view of the Needles from the Old Fort & House Martins darting everywhere

Alum Bay and the 21 different coloured sands.

The walk back over the Warren. Heather out in full glory. Despite the look of the weather this was a lovely walk and much better than paying £4.50 to park at the appalling Needles Park with all its 'wonderful' attractions.

Day 2

Breakfast - eggs, bacon & mushrooms yum !
Walk along the beach to Yarmouth. Out along the spit to the harbour. Back along the road. Had to stop whist the bridge opened for the yachts to pass through (very exciting....) Into town to explore.

Lots of independent shops. In fact not a chain store in sight what a pleasant change. Down the pier, into Gossips for coffee, then down the main high street! and out the other side to where we were yesterday in the car in the rain looking over the water.... Not in the rain today... Sunny and hot...

Back into town for refreshments at The George with its splendid 'frontage' and live Jazz. Very chilled and civilised.

To the shop for provisions - toilet roll, beans & ham. Bread, peaches & baguettes from the Deli. Stagger back to The Boathouse for tea & lunch on the beach.
40 winks and then out again to explore Fort Victorian. Lovely woodland walk along the coastal path then back for *** whiskey & snacks

IOW Day 1

And we're off at last on our summer holiday.... It's been a long time coming but it's finally here.
Southampton - ferry - East Cowes - Newport - Yarmouth - Boathouse Sail Loft apartment (our home for the week)
Good weather over in the ferry, hot even. Good weather all day until 3ish when it started to rain but it was still warm.
Snooze on arrival then walk along the pebbles beach before Pie & Potatoes and early to bed.

Campervan adventures 2 - Easter 2015

4th April 4pm - so off we set from Doddington with our new wheels. Brilliantly easy access back into the motorway, over the toll bridge (to our surprise only £6.50 car rate, thought we'd be charged van rate £10.40) Off to the right towards Cheptow. Into Wales briefly and than back out to England.
Once we got used to the rattles and shakes, one loud scary clonk as we got too close to the near edge... Hopefully we hadn't wrecked the van already....  a very straightforward 40 min drive to Wye & Forest Camp & Caravan Park.

Bedroom view ...

Brecon campsite overlooking the black mountains.
